Reciprocating Compressors UK supplier
“whatever the make, there’s only one name – ACES”
At ACES, we supply new, remanufactured, and overhauled reciprocating compressors for commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems across the UK. Reciprocating compressors remain a trusted solution for applications including cold rooms, chillers, supermarket refrigeration, process cooling, and industrial HVAC systems due to their reliability, serviceability, and long operating life. Alongside supplying replacement compressors from leading manufacturers including Copeland, Bitzer, BOCK, Frascold, and Dorin, we also specialise in reciprocating compressor remanufacturing and overhaul services carried out in-house by our experienced engineering team.
Remanufactured reciprocating compressors
As well as supplying new reciprocating compressors, here at ACES we specialise in compressor overhaul services and remanufactured reciprocating compressors. Each compressor undergoes a comprehensive rebuild and testing procedure carried out by our experienced engineering team. From initial strip-down inspection through to final performance testing under load conditions, every stage of the process is carefully monitored to help ensure reliability, efficiency, and long service life within demanding refrigeration and HVAC applications.
Reciprocating Compressor Overhaul Procedure
Each reciprocating compressor remanufactured by ACES is assigned a unique identification number stamped onto the compressor body casting. This number remains with the compressor throughout its operational life and allows the compressor history to be recalled from our internal database when required.
Our reciprocating compressor remanufacturing process begins with draining the oil and completely stripping down the compressor for detailed inspection. All compressor components are inspected and measured for size and tolerance using precision measuring equipment. Where suitable, crankshafts may be reground and cylinder bores re-bored in-house as part of the compressor overhaul process. Components within the manufacturer’s specified tolerances are reused, while worn or damaged compressor parts are replaced. Valve reeds and piston rings are replaced regardless of condition, and all valve plates are surface ground.
Stator windings are removed and sent to our electrical rewind department for testing or rewinding where required. Each winding undergoes flash testing, resistance readings, and full load transformer testing before approval.
All compressor castings including bodies, heads, and end covers are thoroughly cleaned before the reciprocating compressor is reassembled by our experienced engineering team. Electrical bench testing and inspection checks are carried out throughout every stage of assembly.
Once assembled, the remanufactured reciprocating compressor is transferred to our purpose-built Test Centre where it undergoes refrigeration compressor testing both open and under load conditions. Testing includes amp readings, oil pressure testing, oil return checks, unloading operation checks, restart testing, and pump-down testing.
Following successful testing, the compressor is charged with oxygen-free dry nitrogen (OFN), leak tested, dehydrated, evacuated, and prepared for dispatch.
