Refrigerant compressors
Most medium sized and large compressors used worldwide are fitted with KRIWAN motor protector devices order to protect them and other components of refrigeration circuits in different applications.
- Compressors are effectively protected against thermal overload by the combinations PTC, PTC+, NTC, or current sensor and tripping unit.
- High temperatures on the hot gas side are monitored by KRIWAN hot gas sensors.
- Sufficient oil lubrication is required for the safe operation of a refrigerant compressor.
For compressors fitted with oil pumps, KRIWAN offers a differential pressure sensor which monitors whether enough oil is being conveyed to the crank shaft. In compressors with splash lubrication, a Kriwan oil level sensor is used for the same purpose.
As well as thermal protection, KRIWAN tripping units perform phase monitoring. Comprehensive compressor data can be retrieved via protection devices’ diagnostic ports, and analysed.
Electronics and sensors for chillers
KRIWAN supports manufacturers of chillers and water chillers with their products for condition monitoring, output regulation in screw compressors, and their expertise in sensors and electronics.
KRIWAN hot gas sensors and phase monitors can be used to monitor chillers and cold water chillers at a system level. That also applies to systems using compressors with bimetallic protective switches; KRIWAN products protect against excessive compressor end-temperatures, compressors turning the wrong way, and damage caused by undervoltage.
